As many of you are well aware, when the opportunity presents itself, I really enjoy taking my engagement sessions to the next level – cue Alice in Wonderland, Snowmobiling on a Frozen Lake, New York City Engagement 1, New York City Engagement 2, etc.

When Erin mentioned she might like to do Destination Engagement session at Long Beach Island in New Jersey, I could tell from the way she suggested it that she fully expected me to say “No” and that the over-100-mile-drive was a little “too far.” As it so happens, she got quite the opposite reaction from me. Especially because I recently moved to Denver, Colorado, and will only be taking a limited number of weddings in the Northeast in future years, I was very excited at the opportunity to finally shoot on the beach! Two and a half years shooting in the Northeast and I never made it to the Jersey shore for a shoot?! Ridiculous.

Thanks so much to Erin and Scott for being willing to pay a little extra to put an end to that nonsense! These photos… well, they just make me smile… A LOT!

If you haven’t noticed, one of the BEST things about Erin and Scott was that they really knew how to do “Sexy.” As soon as I said the word, I was loving every frame from my viewfinder, and I quickly became addicted to the “sexy” command! And yes… I went WAY in the ocean for these next shots, and serious props to Erin and Scott… they totally did too!

Erin is just a ridiculously beautiful girl, so I couldn’t resist a little overkill on the closeups… she lamented on her “beach hair,” but I totally dig it!

We decided to stop by a local ice-cream shop called the Skipper Dipper really quickly for a few shots. It was pretty funny when the couple realized I was taking candid photos of them ordering their cones. Even the staff was looking at me cross-eyed, but I have to say, “GO SCOTT!,” because he totally saw me taking the shots and moved closer to Erin to be in the shot, even put his hand to her waste… he totally made this first picture!

Our last stop was a small boardwalk by the Bay we had planned to use for an attempt at a few sunset photos. The sky yielded an okay sunset, and it was just enough for the photos we were hoping for.

To Erin and Scott: It was so great finally meeting you two in person! I am extremely glad it didn’t rain on us and we were able to get shots that I am so totally in love with. You guys are an extremely sweet couple with a lot of patience and a wonderful sense of humor… your 2012 wedding can’t get here soon enough!
