Last week Sean and I made a trip back to the Northeast for a wedding at a very unique venue, the Gramercy Mansion in Baltimore, MD. The couple had found out about us from a past client who had gotten married in Philadelphia, PA. They knew we had moved across the country, but were so set on having us for their wedding they decided to fly us out, and I have to say I’ve never felt like such a celebrity at a wedding!

The couple started their day with some “getting ready” time at the mansion, and when I walked into the room where Darcy was primping, I can honestly say I’ve never shot preparation photos in a more beautiful space and after requesting a quick clean up from the girls I was able to use it to capture some of my all-time favorite getting ready photos to date!

Sean covered the boys getting ready, and as usual did a fabulous job with not only the posed portraits, but capturing the best moments.

Brendon in particular is a graphic artist, who was very in tune with our style and completely open minded to any ideas we had to make the most of the photos from his and Darcy’s day. Working with clients like him is always a pleasure, and we’re always thrilled with the resulting images.

One of the suggestions we had made for the couple’s day was to do a first look to make an appropriate amount time for bride and groom photos. After the ceremony, we were extremely grateful the couple had taken our suggestion, because we definitely would have missed out on all this beautiful golden light!

There were several areas at the mansion that were dedicated to ceremonies, and the couple had their pick. Once again, we were completely in agreement with Brendon’s choice of this gorgeous garden alcove.

By the time the ceremony ended it was dusk and any sense of daylight was fading fast. We made our best effort to blow through the family formals as quickly as possible, but still ended up needing to move the wedding party shot indoors. We were excited to use this beautiful staircase for that image.

The reception kicked off in this unique indoor/outdoor space with beautiful lighting, centerpieces and hanging plants. Meanwhile, guests were free to roam the mansion to collect their meals buffet style, with different stations in different rooms.

After dinner and cake, there was dancing and letting loose! Like most couples who tend to hire us, Brendon and Darcy really knew how to have a good time!

To Brendon and Darcy: It was so amazing to meet you both! I feel like with everything we learned about you two, it’s easy to see why some of our favorite clients of all time would have recommend you to us. As a couple, you know how to embrace love, not get caught up in the small details, and live life to its fullest, which are some amazing qualities to share. We wish you well, and genuinely hope it’s not the last we see of you!
