For anyone who isn’t aware of what an au pair is, it’s a young person between the ages of 18 and 25 who comes to America to live with a family and help take care of their children. Long story short, our bride here, Silvia, is my own sister’s au pair from Spain and I have considered her part of my extended family for the last two years. When I heard she was engaged to the handsome Josh, I immediately offered to photograph her small, Philadelphia elopement leading up to a larger wedding that is set to happen in Spain!

I wanted to be there with Silvia and her family as she got ready at my sister’s home, because I knew it would be an emotional time for everyone. She had not seen her sister or parents since their last visit to the states a long while back, and the wonderful occasion they were celebrating was sure to make that distance more permanent. The children in the photos are actually my own adorable niece and nephew and like Silvia’s younger sister and brother she has lived with and helped raise since her arrival in America.

I’m so happy I was there to capture the special moment when her dad saw her in her dress for the first time, and their super-intimate evening ceremony with a view of the city skyline. From the bottom of my heart I wish Silvia and Josh all the happiness in the world.

Congratulations again you two!!
