I had heard of such a thing as a “debutante ball” only in fairytales… that was until planner-extraordinaire Saebina Ghoshal contacted me to photograph one such event for her sister, Sarah. Saebina was wonderful about walking me through what to expect for the day, including a group Waltz performed by Sarah and her court, 18 candles paired with 18 speeches, special dances for the gentleman closest to Sarah, and finally a traditional serenade of “happy birthday to you!” The confetti poppers at the end were just the icing on the birthday cake!
The entire event felt like a very royal affair, complete with lobster-tail appetizers, a Beyonce-style photobooth wall of roses, and an actual Cake Boss castle-cake. Sarah’s family was a fun, joyful crowd, who were all very proud of Sarah, as evidenced by their heartfelt speeches. A big thanks to the entire family for having me be part of Sarah’s special celebration, and to Hendrick for coming out and second shooting this unique event with me as well!
