It’s not every day you get to marry your best friend… literally… Kristen and Jake were roommates and confidants for years leading up to even going on a single date with one another. I know I’m stealing the officiator story here, but after they had moved on from sharing a room, they finally both realized that perhaps what they really wanted to share was their entire lives. The next time they met up with each other, Jake asked Kristen, “Did something change between us?” And just like the marriage proposal itself, Kristen said “yes!” And so commenced their steady transition to a romantic relationship.
I’m sure it’s not the simplest thing in the world to change the entire nature of such a long-standing relationship, but when you finally realize what you really want, you eventually get there.
Their unique story was what made their day truly special, and I was honored to photograph it at the Bonnet Island Estate in Manahawkin, NJ, this past weekend. Bonnet Island is quickly becoming among my favorite venues within relatively close driving distance to me, and I was really grateful for the beautiful day we had that allowed us to use the grounds outside for some especially pretty portraits.
Thanks so much to Dan The Man for second shooting this with me… great job as always… and as much as it pains me to admit, I’m really starting to enjoy the fist bumps.
