I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but I have been a wedding photographer for over 15 years, shot over 500 weddings from a ridiculous litany of different cultures, and done almost every other kind of shoot there is at least once, but this past Thursday was my VERY FIRST surprise engagement!
I’m beyond thrilled that Spencer collaborated with his mom, Amy, to hire me to capture this very special proposal. What looks like a very random sidewalk spot in the photos had special sentimental meaning to the couple and a bouquet was left in the potted plant for Kylie to find as they revisited it in honor of their ten-year dating anniversary.
Kylie’s face when she realized she was dealing with “paparazzi” was full of surprise and really enhanced an already exciting moment for the couple. The proposal was followed by a mini 45-minute engagement session at the local Anson B. Nixon park after and I couldn’t believe we managed to get so many great images in such a short period of time. The love and excitement of the moments leading up to the mini session just shines right through in the images!

Spencer & Kylie: thank you so much for sharing this super special moment of your lives with me! I hope the photos do your beautiful proposal justice – congratulations again!
