It has been quite a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to do a genuine documentary family photo session, also known as a “Day In the Life” session. This past weekend I was reminded by Natasha, Cody and the adorable Lyra, just how special they can be.
Documentary style family sessions are a reminder that EVERY DAY of your children’s childhood is filled with once-in-a-lifetime moments. Sometimes, however, we can only see this when we are able to take a step back from the thick of tears, tantrums, and endless dirty diapers and look at our daily lives from an outside perspective. Seeing these moments through the lens of an outsider allows us to appreciate the beauty of childhood in a truly unique and impactful way.
During the four hours I spent at Natasha and Cody’s beautiful home, I was able to capture so many authentic moments of love, laughter and tons of silliness. Two-and-a-half-year-old Lyra’s firecracker personality shines through in every image, and I hope the family cherishes these one-of-a-kind memories for all the years to come!
