When Dannielle and I were discussing the details of her wedding, she mentioned she wanted to go to a farm of some kind for her bride-and-groom photos. She started to say, “I know it’s a little weird, but …” I could have cut her off right there — NOTHING is weird, only unique! All that being said, I’m sure we weren’t the first people to utilize the best of the down-home side of Pennsylvania for wedding photos, but I sure do love how they came out.
Being a huge fan of Fall myself, I was pretty excited when I arrived at Dannielle’s house and saw cowboy boots and wheat-and-berry bouquets lying around for all the bridesmaids, it took me about half a second to figure out her awesome theme of a Fall, country wedding!
Everyone started to get ready and I tagged along, as usual.
One of my previous recent clients, Gina, was a bridesmaid in this wedding and I was very happy to see her again. She was her usual animated self, and – as always – a pleasure to photograph!
Our lovely bride got her dress on with a lot of help from her mother and her six beautiful maids.
As soon as the bride was ready, we immediately headed off to the ceremony. Right before we left, I did give my old friend Gina a very important job… not to let the limo driver lose me as I trailed behind them in the LBPhotography-mobile!
The couples’ Catholic ceremony was perfect and the church itself was very warm and inviting. I think I have a habit of posting the goofiest photo I’ve got from the couple walking away from the altar shot set, haha.
While the couple didn’t exactly find a whole farm to shoot at, they did manage an open field with some hay bales, which was more than enough for me!
Dannielle’s huge Italian family seemed to be with us everywhere that day, and this was the first time I ever had to do bride-and-groom shots with the whole wedding party close by watching. At first I was a little intimidated but it wasn’t long before I saw some great advantages to having everyone there. I was grateful to have one of the bridesmaids assist with the reflector and another even moved my car for me when I saw it was in one of the shots, so thanks to all for helping to make these shots possible!
Our time at the field flew by and it felt like way to soon that we had to head back for the reception. When we arrived, I had just enough time to set up and grab a few quick detail shots before the couple was introduced and the first dance ensued.
The rest of the major events of night followed, and before long guests started moving onto the dancefloor.
To Dannielle: first, thanks so much for the many, many phone calls from new brides you’ve sent to my home studio. You definitely hold the referral record, and after finally getting to spend a whole day with you, it’s easy to see why you have so many friends who must love and trust you. To Jon: you have a wonderful woman in Dannielle and it’s a blessing that you two found each other. You look happy and in love, which is what it’s all about!
