I have a love/hate relationship with the massive amounts of snow we’ve been hit with lately; I hate shoveling my driveway, wiping off my car, freezing my buns and fingers off shooting outdoors in sub-zero weather and getting my camera equipment all dirty in the process…. but I sure do LOVE the photos!
Ashley and Glenn are set to tie the knot sometime in 2013, so even though it was a little early for them to be thinking about wedding vendors, I was honored that Ashley, going off a referral from one of my other past clients, chose me to do this engagement shoot with her and Glenn to celebrate the excitement of their fresh engagement.
These two lovebirds first met at Bloomsburg University. Ashley is a nurse and Glenn is Marine/Criminal Justice student… gotta love those tough guys! Also, for anyone who isn’t aware, I do offer a 10-percent discount to all current members of our armed forces. Wife to a Marine myself, I can’t say how much I appreciate the men and women who have bravely served our country so we can all enjoy the wonderful freedoms associated with being proud citizens of the United States of America. OOH-RAH!
Without further adu, and because I know four paragraphs is my max before people get bored without a photo, here are the first few pictures from Ashley and Glenn’s engagement session. The session was conducted at Nay Aug Park, where Glenn first asked Ashley to be his wife!
This beautiful wooden structure is actually the exact spot where Glenn proposed, and as always provided us with a wonderful photo op.
I’ve shot a Nay Aug a number of times before, and it’s an interesting challenge to come up with new and different ways to use the same scenery. For Ashley and Glenn’s shoot, not only did the different time of year help set their photos apart from past ones, but I kept my eye out for new angles and backgrounds I had never used before. This involved a little bravery on the couple’s part, as I asked them to go pretty far off the beaten path on at least one occasion. The shots with the icicles streaming down over the rocks were so worth it, though!
The whole time we were trudging through a pathway of packed snow I was worrying that Ashley might fall. Then we get to this icy stone stairway and as I’m leading the way down, carefully even, I slip and fall! Luckily, I broke the fall with my butt, so only my ego was harmed. We also came across a few more great photo opportunities as we were circling back to the car.
To Ashley and Glenn, yesterday was such a blast! I don’t know about you two, but my quads are feelin’ it today, haha. I’m hoping if either of you are in the same sore boat, these photos help ease the pain just a little. It was really fantastic getting to know you both; Gina is four for four on having the best friends ever!
Another beautiful shoot. I just love Nay Aug and Ashley’s hat 🙂
Thanks so much, Lauren! The pictures are amazing…well worth the freezing cold and wet feet! Haha. I can’t thank you enough!
Some really great shots here! Love the one of them kissing near the fence with the sun shinning through the trees…
