Kendyl and Jason were one of the first wedding inquiries I got since Sean and I found out we’d be moving to Denver, Colorado. In her first email, Kendyl explained how we were essentially living parallel lives. As it turned out, her fiancé Jason grew up on Long Island, lived in East Stroudsburg, and then moved to Colorado; exactly the same sequence as the last decade of my life! Since then, we’ve only discovered more and more things we have in common, and after just a few hours with my husband and I yesterday, Kendyl and Jason are already starting to feel like friends.

Kendyl and Jason both graduated from Princeton University, where I photographed Mei & Kent’s wedding reception. They met at their college reunion – Kendyl’s four-year and Jason’s ten-year – where Jason was subsequently shot down by Kendyl. Later down the road, Kendyl was challenged to do something crazy, and she thought back to that handsome pilot she met at her reunion and the rest is history. We did their engagement session at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.

I could not have asked for a better location, or a cuter couple! Kendyl was super camera shy, but thankfully she’s marrying an awesome guy who has no problem making her laugh on command. Go Jason!

All day the weather was calling for rain, but since Jason is gone a lot for work and I’m super-booked-up for this year, I think everyone was well aware finding another day that worked for all of us would hardly be possible. Luckily, the rain held out, and we “rocked” our sun-less sky the whole day through.

One of the couple’s only requirements for the shoot was that they be able to stand on a rock for a few photos. Terribly needy, aren’t they? (Insert sarcasm here). I spotted this huge boulder for them to climb up on and suggested it. Meanwhile Jason points to this little tiny rock and goes “that one?” hehe. Oh, Jason, I always think big!

To Kendyl and Jason: After all of our email conversations, it was so great to finally meet you! For two such incredibly intelligent people, you’re also gorgeous, relatable and fun. Talk about the total package! You two definitely deserve each other and I wish you both what I’m so sure will be a long and happy future together! Rock on!
