Erin is one of those brides I could easily be friends with outside of work. She has such a cute/sweet/fun personality and truly makes my job a pleasure. Erin hired me shortly before I did our Alice in Wonderland Engagement Session with another of my brides and her good friend (also named Erin). I have to say, these girls are both so awesome, if they have any more friends getting married, I’ll take them in a heartbeat!
Erin and Bobby wanted to do their engagement session in Lancaster City, since it’s a place with sentimental value to them, and the Lancaster Arts Hotel is actually where they got engaged! These two lovebirds have been together over three years, and even though Erin and I email often, it was a pleasure to finally get to know her and Bobby in person.
We actually started the session by taking a few quick photos inside the Lancaster Arts Hotel. The clerk was kind enough to let us use the lobby, and I give props to my shy couple for bravely posing in front of all the regular hotel patrons passing through.
We didn’t want to wear out our welcome at the hotel, so we left and headed out into the city looking for some good nooks and crannies that might make for some nice urban shots. Lancaster City didn’t disappoint.
My biggest concern shooting in Lancaster was that someone would snatch one of my camera bags and run off with it at any second! Fortunately, we survived with just a few passer-bys calling, “Take a picture of us!” Erin and Bobby posed right through the awkwardness, but I can’t say it wasn’t just a little bit scary, as the strangers were pretty persistent on having their pictures taken. As usual, these urban-feel photos were so worth it though.
By the time we got in the car and headed over to Millersville University for a picture of the couple with their dog, the scheduled shoot time was over, and we, once again, ran out of daylight. Erin and Bobby’s adorable dog Mia – part Border Collie and part Lab – appeared to let the Border Collie get the best of her and refused to pose for pictures. Fortunately, we managed to get one decent shot in before calling it a night.
To Erin and Bobby: I think your professions say a lot about you. Erin, the time you spent teaching special education really speaks to what a truly caring and patient person you are, and Bobby being a drug and alcohol abuse counselor really hits close to home. I very much believe in what you do. It’s always a beautiful thing when two people as beautiful on the inside AND outside as you both are find each other in life. Can’t wait to shoot your wedding, even if it is a year away! 🙂
Eeeee I love them!! Especially the bunch after the hotel shots! 🙂
