I’m not only fascinated with Shannon & Jon’s profession, but I think I’m obsessed with the photos from their Denver Botanical Gardens Chatfield engagement yesterday! Both Shannon and Jon are very successful engineers, and Shannon is currently working at NASA (I hope they don’t mind my saying!) From our very first meeting, I was quick to dub her “NASA Bride” and wasn’t ashamed to share that kitchy nickname with her right off the bat! Smart/beautiful girl, great career, and now handsome-as-heck fiancé – I can only hope my future daughter makes out nearly as well in life as Shannon!
I have to admit, with all the Spring trees blooming early in the Denver area, I was beginning to question the location the couple and I had picked out previously with the drab not-still-winter-but-not-yet-spring season in mind shortly before finalizing our plans, but now I’m definitely glad for Shannon’s early attachment to the Chatfield Farm, because it worked out just beautifully.
These photos also made perfect candidates for some of the custom-color-processing I recently developed. I secretly debuted just a handful of photos featuring it at my previous Vail Love Session, and now I’m loving the rustic Anthropologie look it lent to this particular set!
The couple had a quick outfit change, and I thought dress number two was super-cute! Shannon and I spent 15 minutes trying to get a knot out of the chain of her pretty pearl necklace that went with it. With no luck, I decided to loan her mine – lucky I had it, since it’s the only piece of jewelry I wear every day… it’s my key to Sean’s heart 🙂
Leave it to me to go crazy with photos of a random little red pricker plant we found in the field. I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this yet, but the wind was absolutely INSANE during the whole shoot. Shannon actually needed to hold the plant still (prickers and all) for me to get the ring shot!
With a few minutes to spare left in the shoot, we decided to go back to the vintage pickup truck we found earlier. Sorry for the overkill, but there was just no end to the possibilities for shots with it, and I was loving every one!
To Shannon and Jon: You two were an absolute blast to work with. You are such a thoughtful and fun couple, and I for one had a lot of fun bringing that out of you guys with my unconventional directing style. I’m so lucky to have you both as clients, and can’t wait for your wedding in August!
These are really cute! I especially love the kiss shot on the back of the old car and the reflection is really creative!
