From our very first meeting with Amanda, we knew right away she was our kind of bride! With a great sense of humor, a unique style and an especially kind nature, Amanda is a girl who knows what she wants. We didn’t get to meet James until a little closer to the wedding, but when we finally did it was easy to imagine why she had chosen him, and it’s so apparent how much he adores her. Couples like Amanda and James make our jobs a pleasure, and we were just thrilled to be part of their once-in-a-lifetime event, which took place Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt in Denver, CO.

The couple got ready at the Sheraton in Denver, and as usual I photographed the girls while Sean took care of the boys. Right off the bat, Amanda was interested in participating in any ideas I had for photographs throughout the course of her day.

As it turns out, Sean is some kind of untapped resource for creative posing because his groomsmen setups just get more and more outstanding with each wedding. I’m seriously thinking of borrowing him for the girls from now on!

Amanda and James opted for a first look to make time for bride and groom photos, and it was definitely an emotional one.

It was just a short walk from the Sheraton to the Hyatt for the ceremony, and the couple had planned to stop and take photos along the way. We were almost to the location when we crossed this street on our way over, and I insisted we use it for a quick wedding party photo. As many times as we’ve done shots with a similar setup, this one has to be among my favorites!

Afterwards we managed a few quick bride and groom photos and one more wedding party shot before the ceremony.

I call these photos cryfest 2012…

Followed by a couple of quick cocktail hour photos.

The reception in the Pinnacle Club at the Grand Hyatt was adorned BEAUTIFULLY with amazing views in every direction. We also  REALLY enjoyed the couple’s first dance, which was a great mix of rehearsed steps and spontaneous fun!

As the sun was setting there was the father/daughter dance and speeches, which were among the few traditions Amanda didn’t put the Kabosh on… and for the record, sometimes the less traditional the better!

And yes, Amanda had to wait forever for this blog, because it simply HAS to be among the LONGEST we’ve ever put up. So sorry if you’re tired of scrolling, but we promise these next dance shots are totally worth it!

And to finish out an amazing evening of celebration, we managed to pull the couple away for a few quick night shots in downtown Denver. Amanda and James: we’ve absolutely adored working with you, Amanda’s mom included! Thank you again for having us, and we hope these images allow you to enjoy reliving it all for many years to come!
