As many of you know, our company had its humble beginnings in the Northeast, so we frequently travel back for weddings and other sessions. I hadn’t been back to PA since December so I was pretty excited for my trip last week where I flew out to shoot a wedding in Cape May, NJ, and Kyra and Jon’s engagement session in PA. This was a “destination” engagement if you will, but not nearly as destination as this couple’s August 2014 wedding in Scotland will be!
Yep, these two are booked to have their wedding at Doune Castle of all places, which happens to be where the film Monty Python and The Holy Grail was shot and currently serves as “Winterfell” for those Game of Thrones lovers out there (us included!)
Jon is a successful artist who paints fantasy landscapes and both he and Kyra are very into faeries and any locations that even remotely look like they might have been used in the filming of Lord of the Rings. When we came across some pictures of Rickett’s Glen State Park, we knew it was the perfect scene for them, and were able to take advantage of some of the most beautiful landscapes PA had to offer.
The park was so beautiful, we could have spent all day just shooting rocks, moss and tree roots, but we were determined to get to the waterfalls. We hiked about a mile down some pretty rocky terrain, but when we got there it was SO worth it!
To Kyra & Jon, thanks for driving out and having so much fun taking these with me the other day! I can’t believe I won’t see you again for an entire year, but I just keep thinking about the fact that when I finally do, we’ll all be in SCOTLAND!
