Carissa and Glenn are the kind of couple who really understand what weddings are about, and that’s not about perfect centerpieces, perfect weather, or even perfect pictures, but about celebrating having found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
I commend this couple for not forgetting that, not for one single second, even when it seemed their wedding had developed a pretty rotten case of the Lemony Snickets. At the very last minute, the bride’s elderly father was unable to attend, her gorgeous mountain-view-ceremony site was rained out, she was forced to say her “I Do’s” in what looked like a conference room, and her expensive dress she had intended to sell afterwards was torn and beaten to shreds… yet all the while she kept a huge smile on her face, saying “I am going to ENJOY THIS DAY.”
Not having Carissa’s father present was one of the more difficult aspects of the wedding. In spite of seeing nothing but smiles from her up until this point, as her brother walked her down the aisle in his stead she couldn’t hold back the tears.
The rain let up for a bit and we were able to sneak outside for a few bride and groom photos out on the golf course…
During the reception, there was another emotional moment when Carissa’s dad called in to give a surprise speech, and after that, everyone was pretty ready to get their groove on!
To Carissa and Glenn, it’s rare we walk into a wedding never having met the bride and groom in person before, but upon finally getting to meet you, I could tell there was an instant connection. You guys are fun, quirky and easygoing, all of which are things that really define who we are as photographers. Needless to say, it was a great fit, and we had an absolute blast shooting your wedding! Thanks again for having us, and congratulations to you both!
