There is so much about Laura and Chris that stands out in my mind, but at the top of the list is something Laura said to me while Sean and I were taking their wedding portraits at the Roaring Fork Golf Club this past weekend. She and Chris were being all snuggly and romantic during their bride and groom photos, when I openly lamented that I had to stop for a moment to change memory cards just when they were looking so perfect. Laura calls back to me: “It’s okay, it’s easy for us – we’re just being real.”
And that’s what we live for, real couples and real moments, photographing the genuine emotions that happen at weddings. To that end, we could not have found a more perfect couple to photograph at such a gorgeous venue in Aspen than Laura and Chris.
So without further delay, here are some of our favorite images from the couple’s “getting ready” time.
One of the reasons we don’t charge travel fees for the entirety of Colorado is because we just can never get enough mountain views like this one!
I’ll admit we’re not really big on the goofy setups, but at least when we do them we make them our own..
Another running joke between Laura and I came from Laura pointing out that every time she sees photos of herself she’s shocked at her myriad of expressions and looks, aka, “The many faces of Laura.” Well yes, Laura, you do have many faces… and they are all beautiful.
At the start of the reception, Laura’s father gave the most moving speech, which was followed by dinner, more speeches, and dancing.
To Chris and Laura: I’m so glad we got to know you a bit prior to the wedding. You not only made us feel comfortable and welcome at your wedding, but you made your pictures a priority, and the results are this amazing set of images. Capturing the love between the two of you was the easiest and most fun job we could have asked for… so thanks again for “keeping it real.”
